The main outputs of the project include strengthening national and local capacity to eliminate the worst forms of child labor in seasonal hazelnut harvesting, implementing or intensifying direct intervention mechanisms in areas where seasonal hazelnut harvesting takes place, and raising awareness among national and local stakeholders, supply chain actors and the public on the elimination of the worst forms of child labor in seasonal hazelnut harvesting.

In this context, identification, referral (to education) and monitoring activities are carried out for children at risk, and awareness raising trainings are organized for families and children. Various educational supports are provided for children to continue their education. The project, which continues in 5 provinces (Trabzon, Samsun, Zonguldak, Şanlıurfa, Ordu), operates within the scope of non-formal education in Samsun, Ordu, Trabzon and Zonguldak provinces, while monitoring activities are carried out in Şanlıurfa province. In July-September 2021, 455 children were identified in Trabzon and Zonguldak provinces and directed to Social Support Centers, which are non-formal education institutions opened within the scope of project activities; they benefited from summer non-formal education activities by receiving service, food and stationery support.

These children who participated in the activities on the specified dates received Personal Hygiene, Health and Safety Training. 217 people from seasonal agricultural worker families were involved in awareness raising activities on combating child labor and the importance of education.

The "Ending the Worst Forms of Child Labor in Seasonal Agricultural Hazelnut Harvesting Project", implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MoLSS) General Directorate of Labor and the International Labor Organization (ILO) Office in Turkey, funded by FERRERO resources and of which we are the implementing partner, continues in 5 cities.
