Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour in Seasonal Agriculture in Hazelnut Harvesting in Türkiye

“A child’s journey from the fields to the classroom is only possible through a shared commitment.”

Strengthening national and local capacity to eliminate the worst forms of child labor in the seasonal hazelnut harvest, implementing or scaling up direct intervention mechanisms in areas where the seasonal hazelnut harvest takes place, and raising awareness among national and local stakeholders, supply chain actors, and the public regarding the elimination of the worst forms of child labor in seasonal hazelnut harvesting in agriculture constitute the project’s key outcomes.

As part of this initiative, identification, referral, and monitoring activities are being carried out for at-risk children, and awareness-raising sessions are being conducted for families and children. Various educational support services are provided to help children continue their education. The project, currently active in five provinces (Trabzon, Samsun, Zonguldak, Şanlıurfa, Ordu), operates under the umbrella of community education in Samsun, Ordu, Trabzon, and Zonguldak, while monitoring activities are carried out in Şanlıurfa.
