Safe Steps-2: Promote an Integrated and Holistic Approach to Respond to Protection Needs of Vulnerable Individuals in Türkiye

About the Project

The Safe Steps-2 Project aims to develop a holistic and integrated approach to address the protection needs of vulnerable individuals - especially children, women and refugee communities - living in Hatay and Şanlıurfa provinces of Turkey.

Within the scope of the project, psycho-social support services (PSS) will be provided to children and adults affected by the 2023 earthquakes, and case management processes will be carried out for individuals at high risk. In addition, awareness-raising sessions on child protection and gender-based violence (GBV) will be organized and community-based child protection initiatives will be implemented.

The project aims to create safe spaces for children and adolescents, support the referral of individuals in need to basic services and strengthen the capacity of community members and service providers.

These efforts are expected to strengthen the psycho-social well-being of children and adults, increase awareness and resilience of communities to protection risks, reduce harmful coping strategies such as child labor and early marriage, and facilitate access to support services for both host and refugee communities.

Implementation and Target Audience

The Safe Steps-2 Project aims to establish not only a temporary but also a sustainable support system for individuals affected by the earthquake and at risk of protection in southern Turkey, offering a community-based, decent and inclusive protection model.
